Our mission
Textbooks cost more than most students can afford. Good notes are trapped in WhatsApp groups. Internet is unreliable. ElimuLocal was built to fix all three โ a free, offline-first platform where students share knowledge with each other, openly and without barriers.
01
๐The problem
A single recommended textbook can cost more than a student's entire month's budget. Most students go without.
โ Free notes and summaries shared by peers
02
๐ฌThe problem
Good materials exist but they are buried in chat history, shared only with people who know the right person to ask.
โ Searchable library organised by course and university
03
๐ถThe problem
Most edtech solutions require stable internet. On many Kenyan campuses, that is not a given.
โ Runs on campus WiFi with zero internet needed
How it works
Create an account in under a minute. No email verification, no waiting. Just a username and password and you are in.
Share your notes, past papers, textbook summaries or lecture videos. Tag them by course and university so others can find them easily.
Search by keyword, filter by university and category, sort by most helpful. Preview PDFs in the browser or download for offline reading.
About the project
ElimuLocal started as a three-month project to solve a problem felt by every Kenyan university student โ the gap between what institutions provide and what students actually need to succeed. It is built entirely in Go, runs offline on campus WiFi, and is free to use forever.
// The vision
"Every Kenyan university student deserves access to quality study materials โ regardless of how much money they have or how strong their internet connection is."
